Second Wednesday of the Month

Our next Community Coffee Social is Wednesday, May 14th, from 9:30 to 11 am in the hall.

The last Coffee Social was a great success and we want to spread the word. The Coffee Social is held the second Wednesday of each month, and is for anyone from the community and parish to gather socially.

The Coffee Social was launched as a response to the real need within the community for more opportunities to connect with one another. We warmly welcome you to come and spend some time in a relaxing and social environment. Bring your friends too!

Sunday School Ministry

Sunday School Ministry

An Exciting Opportunity

We have a wonderful opportunity becoming available for the start of Sunday School in September. Michelle Gossman has graciously been our Sunday School Coordinator this past year, and is now preparing to hand the role over to a new candidate who feels called to this ministry.

The main key responsibilities for this role are:

- Finding and scheduling teachers for the school year (mid/end September to end of May).
- Ensuring Sunday School supplies are ordered and organized.
- Confirming curriculum and ensuring that the teachers have it for their teaching day.
- Leading the Christmas Pageant (includes finding participants and organizing the dress rehearsal).
- Planning the end of the year Sunday School Picnic (includes planning games and food).

If you are curious about the role, please inquire through the Parish Office or you can speak with Michelle Gossman directly.

Your Altar Guild is actively seeking new members. This is a wonderful ministry that can be done by two or three people. It involves a few hours split between Saturday and Sunday to set up the Altars and then clean up.

If you have questions or would like to know more about this, contact Kathy Middleton at 250 474 6914 or kmm71.2025@gmail.com.

Not Getting your Newsletter?

Not Getting your Newsletter?

We are aware of an issue with the delivery of '@shaw.ca' emails. These emails seem to be sent to a filter that we have not been able to resolve. If you have an '@shaw.ca' address, please note that this email program is unreliable. Provided by a Texas company called Zimbra, it is basic and outdated. Shaw has indicated that they will eventually exit the email business, similar to Telus a few years ago (which didn't go well).

We recommend signing up for a free email client such as Outlook.com or Gmail.com. Both are easy to sign up for and add to your computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. Outlook is generally more recommended as Gmail monitors all emails for content to keep it free. Once signed up, you can either continue receiving emails on your Shaw client or switch over completely. This way, if Shaw cancels its email service, you'll be prepared and continue receiving your church newsletter.

Al Wills has volunteered to assist if you need help figuring it out! Please let Caroline know if you need Al's assistance - if there are enough people with phones and laptops, we could organise a teaching session during a coffee hour.

THIS WEEK’S NEWS

Books, finding aids, and loan slips have been returned to their usual places after the past weekend’s successful garage sale. On display this week are three very recent acquisitions, and two more Celtic books from Bishop Logan’s gift.

Karoline M. Lewis. Belonging: 5 Keys to Unlock Your Potential as a Disciple.
For those who would like to read for themselves the book that was the inspiration for Sister Ingrid’s Lenten sermon series, it is now available on Top Shelf.

Phil Groves and Angharad Parry Jones. Living Reconciliation.
All Christians are called to the ministry of reconciliation; this small book considers reconciliation in both personal and public contexts. Introduction by former Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.

Allan Aubrey Boesak and Paul DeYoung Curtiss. Radical Reconciliation: Beyond Political Pietism and Christian Quietism.

The role of reconciliation in societies troubled by social injustice. Introduction by the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

Andrew Jones. Every Pilgrim's Guide to Celtic Britain and Ireland.
An illustrated companion to travels in Britain and Ireland, with descriptions of Celtic remains and devotions for each site.

Kenneth McIntosh. Water from an Ancient Well: Celtic Spirituality for Modern Life.
A beautiful exploration of Celtic spirituality and its relevance to modern Christian life and belief.

To borrow any book, please fill out a green loan slip from the small bookcase in the narthex, and put it in the pink box labelled “Library.” If you have a book due for return, please fill out a yellow return slip instead, and leave your book beside the box. Thank you.
