Sunday School Registration THIS SundaySign up on Welcome Back Sunday on Sept 14th! Sunday School opens this Sunday - please register your children at the table in the Narthex. Please be sure to fill in the form, no matter the frequency your child will attend. Rudo Mgodi, our new Sunday School coordinator, will be here at the church to answer all of your questions. |
Sunday School Teachers needed!
Teaching in our Sunday School is a very rewarding experience. It gives you the wonderful opportunity of discovering what a terrific group of kids we have in our church. We're pleased that some of you have reached out with interest in teaching/helping the Sunday School and recognize that you have questions about the level of commitment involved. Hopefully, this will provide you with some answers. As Terry told us last Sunday, Safe Church requires that two adults be present in each class: one Teacher and an Assistant. Teaching – Our new Sunday School co-ordinator, Rudo Mgodi, will email the curriculum weekly to the teachers who are scheduled to teach that upcoming Sunday. The curriculum will include the theme, guidance for Storytime, an activity or craft suggestions, etc. Assistant – The Assistant’s main role is to be present in the class as a helper for the kids and teacher. No advance prep-work is necessary. The Assistant would help with the crafts and encourage the children to engage with the curriculum. If the child requires assistance with visiting the facilities, or wants to return to mom or dad, the Assistant will escort them safely there. We would like to ideally have 4 Teachers and 4 Assistants on a rotation, so that everyone would be responsible for only one Sunday per month. The classes run for about 30 to 45 minutes in length. We have a well stocked cupboard of supplies for all sorts of crafts. The only additional commitment to the regular Sunday teaching times is the Christmas Pageant (December) and the Sunday School Wind-Up Party (end of May). The teachers plan and work together to facilitate these two events. There are no classes during the summer. If you are interested and/or have more questions, please speak with the office, Sr. Ingrid, or with Rudo Mgodi after the 10 AM service (or email her at rudodmgodi@gmail.com). |

Jazz Vespers - September 21st @ 7 PMBroke & Blue We are thrilled to welcome back Broke and Blue - pianist Kathryn Le Gros and flutist Diane Berry for our next Jazz Vespers service! This is NOT TO BE MISSED! Broke and Blue came together when Kathryn and Diane first discovered their mutual love of the music of French jazz pianist, Claude Bolling (1930-2020). With two suites for flute and jazz piano, as well as a number of other pieces, there is a rich choice available. Bolling’s fusion of classical and jazz elements in his work is a wonderful vehicle for these two classically trained, versatile musicians. Both are experienced performers, connected to a number of ensembles in and around Victoria, embracing a number of different genres and styles. In the years since forming Broke and Blue, they have performed at Hermann’s Jazz Club, for jazz vespers in a number of local churches, created videos for Vancouver Symphony’s Day of Music, performed Unsworth Winery, corporate functions, and live-streamed a concert for Augmented Trio Promotions. Sunday 21st September at 7 PM. Suggested donation at the door: $20. |

Drop-off for Swap & Shop 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

What do you do with a broken toaster? Or a bike wheel that’s out of alignment … and what about a sweater full of moth holes? Toss it? No way! Bring them to the Repair Café, where our fantastic volunteer repair team can assess and more than likely help you get your item repaired. And for those who want to give DIY a try, there will be tools and materials on hand for you to work on fixing some things yourself!
Special Notes: We DO NOT accept gas-powered items. We also ask that you make sure your item(s) are wiped down/cleaned before requesting a repair (we don’t want our repair heroes needing to clean out dirty vacuums before they can try to repair them for you).
Holiday Décor Swap & Shop

Our September Repair Café will include a Holiday Décor Swap & Shop for folks to find new-to-them, gently used decorations! You can drop off your gently used decorations for Fall, Halloween, Christmas, or Wintertime (even Spring/Easter, if you have them!) at the Gordon United Church, 935 Goldstream Avenue in Langford on Saturday, September 27 from 10am – 11am (the Swapping and Shopping starts at 11!). Drop your things off for others to enjoy or find something new for your household!
Got the tools and some time?
If you’re a Handy Superhero like our mascot Reggie the Wrench Guy, we’d love to have you join our righteous repair quest. Repair Café ReImagine West Shore could use more handy volunteers and we’re looking for local residents with different skills who can serve as repair experts during our Repair Café meetings. Check out our Call to Handyfolk and let us know if you can lend us a hand at an upcoming Repair Café! |

A Letter from Bishop AnnaThe New Vicar of Christ Church Cathedral September 7, 2025 To the good people of Christ Church Cathedral, I write today with the happy news of The Rev. Anna Rossi’s appointment as Vicar of Christ Church Cathedral. Anna will be coming to us from Grace Cathedral in San Francisco and plans to begin her ministry here with us in mid-December. We were very pleased with the quality of candidates that applied for the position and were unanimous in our decision that Anna had the most to offer the Cathedral at this juncture. Anna’s extensive experience as a priest, liturgist, hymn writer and inter-faith advocate will be a blessing to the life and worship of the Cathedral here in Victoria. I am very pleased that we have been able to attract a person with Anna’s experience and credentials to this position and know that with both a strong Dean and Vicar in place the Cathedral will continue to grow in strength and vitality. Thank you to everyone who was involved in this search. In gratitude for our shared life in Christ, The Right Rev Anna Greenwood-Lee

We Together 2025Friday, November 14, 2025 We Together is our regular (once every other year) diocesan conference to remind us of the ways we are connected; we are stronger together. We are bound in countless ways, in our structures, in our prayers, and through the stories we tell. We are each other's concern, and we are each other's gift. This year is God is not Elsewhere. The God of our scriptures and stories, the God of our traditions and rites, the God who whispers through music and poetry, is the God moving here and now. Not just in times and places long ago and far away, but within our places, our communities and our people. This year's We-Together will highlight the gifts of a selection of people from our diocese, as we reflect together on some of the ways that the God who is in our midst is stirring and calling us on our journey together. We will eat and laugh, we will learn and be challenged, and together we will be nourished for our journey. The conference will begin on Friday evening November 14th with an evening banquet at St Pauls in Nanaimo followed by an opening address. On Saturday we will gather at St. Pauls for a full day of workshops featuring our speakers John Thatamanil, Jonathan Thomas, Jenny Replogle, Christine Conkin, Gordon Smith, Brendon Neilson and Denise Doerksen.
