Agnes Richardson's 100th birthday!

Agnes Richardson's 100th birthday!

Parish Celebration

Our beloved Agnes Richardson turns 100 on April 16th.

We will be celebrating Agnes's birthday on Sunday, April 23rd, at coffee time after the 10 a.m. service.

If you haven't already sent in your greetings for Agnes, please sign the card in the Narthex.

Many thanks!!

Spring Pot Luck

Spring Pot Luck

April 22nd - 5 PM

We celebrate Spring with our very popular Pot Luck Dinner on April 22nd at 5 PM!

Please sign up in the Narthex to tell us how many of you are attending, and what you are bringing.

Also, very importantly, we need people to sign up to help to set up and to tidy up afterwards - so the work is fairly shared out between many people.

If you won't be at church this Sunday, please email the office to sign up, at admin@colwoodanglican.ca

Please remember that Church of the Advent functions are alcohol-free.

Garage Sale Update

Garage Sale Update

Saturday May 6

- The sign-up sheets for working at the Garage Sale are now out on the entranceway table.
- Please consider how and when you can help with the set-up, sale day and/or clean-up and add your name and phone number to the appropriate spaces on the sheets.
- You can contact Mary Wills or Linda Van Sickle if you have any questions.
- Posters for the sale are printed and on the narthex table. Please take as many as you need, and indicate on the sheet beside the posters where you will be taking them.
- If you have items for the sale, please wait until the week before (Monday, May 1 to Friday, May 5) to bring them to the church. If you need to bring them in earlier, you can  contact Mary Wills or Joan Hoffman to make drop-off arrangements.
- Please note that we are not accepting clothing, TVs, computers, large furniture, mattresses, or books, records and movies (you can save these last three for the Book Sale in October).
- Thank you for all the ways you’re able to assist and contribute to make this event a success.

Star Wars Movie Marathon

May the Fourth be with you

May 4 has a special meaning for Star Wars fans around the world each year. It is the day we celebrate Star Wars movies, and all other aspects of the science fiction universe created in 1977 by genius filmmaker George Lucas.

The reason Star Wars fans chose May 4 is that the date resembles one of the most famous lines repeated throughout the film: “may the Force be with you,” which changes to: “May the Fourth be with you,” on this day every year.

The Fourth of May is a school night, so Sr Ingrid, a Star Wars fan, is suggesting that we gather for a movie marathon at the church on Friday 5th. Depending on how many are interested, we will have to consider the venue, because the Garage Sale is the following day, making some of the rooms unavailable.

The question is: which movies, and how many - two or three?

- Episodes 4-6?

Or

- The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker?

Or some of those? If you suggest Episodes 1-3, Sr Ingrid will judge you. Because Jar Jar Binks.

Bring popcorn and dress as your favourite character. And watch the classic battle of good over evil.

Drop me an email and let me know.

Summer Camp 2023

Summer Camp 2023

Spring is here and it is time to be reminded about Summer Camp 2023.

Our camp this year is being held at Rondalyn Resort and Campground just outside Ladysmith.  The dates are July 7 to 14.  The resort still has a few Tent sites available, but all the full hook-up sites are already booked.

However, one of our couples is not able to attend, and are willing to transfer their booked full hook-up site to another party.  So, if there is someone out there that would like to book a full hook-up site, please speak with Terry Mikkonen as soon as possible and she will put you in contact with the person concerned.

For more information contact Terry at 250-216-3801 or email her at tmikkonen@colwoodanglican.ca.
