Thanks as well to everyone who has signed up to work at the Sale on Saturday.

It will be a great day and we hope to see you and your friends and neighbours on Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm.

GARAGE SALE ARRANGEMENTS

The small bookcase in the narthex, which is the usual location for the Top Shelf display, the catalogue binder, loan and return slips, the Library box, and the Inspiration section (novels and poetry), and the table that contains the children’s books are currently in use for the Garage Sale boutique.

The Inspiration section has been moved temporarily to the large bookcase in the St John Room. The children’s books remain inside the table, but are not expected to be readily accessible this week. The binder, loan & return slips, and the box marked Library, are on the main library shelves outside the parish office.

Although there is no display, adult books remain accessible, and if you looking for something new to read this week, you are invited to browse them. The Anglican, Bible, Bible Resources, and Reference sections, and, for this week only, the Inspiration section, can be found in the St John Room. Sections from Celtic to Young Adult are in the main shelves outside the parish office. Among those recently returned from loan are Rachel Held Evans’ Inspired (BBLR EVA) and Wholehearted Faith (BIOG EVA2); Jen Hatmaker’s The 7 Experiment (CHLF HAT2); Max Lucado’s A Love Worth Giving (CHLF LUC3); the First Nations Version (IND FNV); Rhonda Mawhood Lee’s Seek and You Will Find (PRAY LEE), and Barbara Brown Taylor’s An Altar in the World (SPT TAY).

COMING SOON

Library arrangements will return to normal next Tuesday, 5 May. There will be a week-long display of books for Rogation Sunday on 10 May, to be followed by several weeks of the New Book Corner; watch this column for reviews of these new-to-our-library books.

To borrow any book, fill out a green slip from the small bookcase in the narthex, and put it in the pink box labelled Library. To return a book, fill out a yellow slip and put it in the box, then leave the book beside or under the box.

Thursday, May 21 - Saturday, May 23, 2026

Christ Church Cathedral is pleased to present a conference on homelessness in Victoria. The conference begins on Thursday, May 21 at 7pm with the opening lecture "A Theology of Home in a Time of Homelessness" presented by Dr. Siobhan Garrigan

On Friday, May 22 there will be a day of panel discussions on the factors that lead to homelessness, on the barriers, gaps and policy failures that perpetuate homelessness, and on what is working and where advocacy is leading to real change. The conference will close on Saturday, May 24 with a day of storytelling. We will hear from people who have spent periods of their lives unhoused, and the Rev. Maggie Helwig will read from her book Encampment.
