Garage Sale Update & Appreciations

Garage Sale

Garage Sale

The Garage Sale on Saturday, May 2nd was a wonderful event in the life of this church and our Westshore community. Volunteers worked steadily for five days preceding the sale, receiving donations from parishioners as well as lots of generous people in our wider community. Along the way, everyone who helped out had a great time getting to know other church members and having fun with one another. On Saturday, more than 50 volunteers helped with the early morning set-up, with the BBQ lunch, with selling items to our many customers and with the packing and clean up at the end of the day. We received many comments from customers who enjoyed their shopping experience and were impressed with the quality of the goods and the way that they were displayed. Unsold items are now being moved on to Habitat for Humanity Restore, Anney’s Closet, WIN, the Salvation Army, Animal Rescue Centre, and metal and electronics recycling. Thanks to everyone who is helping with the delivery of these items.

If you can stop by the church garage after the 10 am service this Sunday, May 10, volunteers will help load some boxes into your vehicle for delivery to any of the Salvation Army Thrift Stores in the greater Victoria area.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated in any way in this great event. The net proceeds for the day so far are just over $6200. Well done, everyone!

Family Games Night!

Family Games Night!

Saturday, May 9th at 6 PM

Do you enjoy board games? Feel like getting together with friends for some games, snacks and plenty of laughs? Then join us this Saturday, May 9th at 6 pm in the hall for Family Board Games Night. Whether you’re a classical purist who digs Risk and Monopoly, or you’re into trying something new like Settlers of Catan or 7 Wonders; there will be tons of games for everyone. Party games, strategy games, dice, cards…you name it! We will also have a rules explainer available, so you don’t have to plug through an instruction manual for 20 minutes to figure out the games. Feel like sharing your favourite game with friends? Bring it along!

Did we mention snacks and drinks? That’s right! In true board game café style, we will have bowlfuls of snacks, popcorn, and drinks available to keep tummies from grumbling. All proceeds will go to the Coffee Fund.  So come feeling ‘snacky’!

Come out and enjoy the spirit of fellowship mixed with a little healthy competition and plenty of fun. See you there!

Compassion in Action - meeting the needs of unhoused people in Langford

Compassion in Action - meeting the needs of unhoused people in Langford

The Salvation Army Connection Point Church & Resource Centre in Langford is currently seeking donations for their Dignity Project.

They are specifically in need of men's underwear, toothpaste, toothbrushes, men's and women's pants and spring jackets.

One of the struggles of being unhoused is having nowhere safe to shower, and not having clean clothes. Connection Point in Langford provides free showers and laundry for the unhoused in the West Shore. They are running low on some important items and are seeking assistance from the community to help continue their mission to restore dignity to those who need it.

- Thank you from the Compassion in Action Ministry Team
